What Is the Treatment Like?
Laser skin resurfacing treatment is quick, convenient, and comfortable. Since it is an outpatient procedure, you will be able to return to your daily life the same day. However, there may be some redness or swelling around the treated area.
Each session’s duration will depend on your individual treatment plan. Depending on which areas you want to treat, a session could last anywhere from half an hour to two hours.
The procedure itself is usually not uncomfortable. And many patients say the laser only feels like a rubber band snapping against their skin. However, let us know if this concerns you, and we can work out a solution.
After your treatment, you can return home right away. Some minor swelling or redness is to be expected, but this should quickly fade. We do advise staying out of direct sunlight or doing anything to irritate your treated skin.
When Will I See Results?
Many patients report significant improvements after even a single session. However, you will see your final results only after completing your treatment plan. For some patients, this might only be two sessions. While others who want to treat more serious concerns might need several sessions to achieve their goals.
Though you will see improvements after each session, it can take some time for your results to appear. As your body replaces the damaged skin with new cells, you will see continual improvements in the weeks following your treatments.
If you take care of your skin, your results should be long-lasting. For scars, they should not return. And any skin discoloration should also be permanently gone. However, avoiding new wrinkles and lines will require being conscious of your skin. We recommend avoiding too much exposure to sunlight when you can, as this can rapidly age your skin. Habits such as drinking or smoking can also age your skin. If you have any questions about how to maximize your results, Dr. Linville will gladly provide you with complete information.
As you continue to age, we recommend coming in for occasional touchups to keep your skin vibrant.
